Manila: A Visual Guide!

Visited capital of the Philippines back in August 2018. Soon after arrival in Manila realized that August is possibly the worst possible month to visit the Philippines. It is the rainiest month of the year for most parts of the Philippines. The first evening, simply decided to take a walk around the Makati area where my hotel was located. This area also pretty well known for its nightlife.

Before arriving I heard and read that the traffic here is notorious and it's true. Almost every car has 2 cameras (min) fit to record the journey throughout. The Grab driver who drove me from the airport to my hotel said it was to ensure one is not blamed for an accident as it is pretty common. Frankly, Manila City is our brother from another mother when it comes to traffic. Perhaps, I feel our Dhaka is worse. Nat Geo team should visit Dhaka before they publish their "List of Cities with Worst Traffic", I am sure we will win the crown.

People were super friendly and helpful. Most speak okay to very good English. So it's easy to get around. Due to heavy rain almost throughout the first 2 days of my trip, was not able to visit any touristy places till the third day.

The last 2 days of my short tour to Manila was eventful. Spent both nights in the casinos. Out of all, City of Dreams Manila was my favourite. Probably because I won quite a bit in poker there.

Among touristy places, Rizal Park, Quiapo Church, Intramuros, San Augustin Church & Museum, Manila Ocean Park, National Museum of the Philippines, Fort Santiago, etc are definitely worth a visit. There are a few really big malls in the city and Robinsons Place Mall is probably the best one among them.

Due to lack of time and the terrible weather, I could not really explore the Philippines, the way I would like to. Will try to visit the Philippines again in the future and this time will definitely try to spend at least a month.
