about me

"Guy With the Green Passport is an initiative by Susmit Paul Aranya, to help and inspire travellers from Bangladesh & other countries with weaker passports. One can find information about visa application guidelines, travel tips & tricks or read about the author's travel experiences and get inspired."

The story of Guy With The Green Passport began on 19 April 2018, when I decided to document my travel, something which I did not do before. I created a facebook page with the same name as this site and started to share my experiences in Australia, as I was on a tour to Australia then.

Soon after that, I started receiving several questions, mostly about my Australian visa application. So, I shared a detailed post on the same topic That was possibly my first post on, which many found helpful. Then from messages I have received or the people I have spoken to within a week or two after that post, I realized, while  travelers from countries like Bangladesh and other countries with weaker passports, can read and find information about all aspects of travel from travel guides, travel blogs, travel vlogs and other resources created by anyone around the world, it is information or guidelines for visa applications, which they cannot find easily. It is not a surprise that most established travel blogs, travel vlogs or even travel guides like Lonely Planet are created by western travellers and they provide every information about a destination like what to see, where to stay, where to eat, how to reach and so on, but they forget to look into one of the biggest barrier, i.e. visa for travelers from countries like ours. And I don't blame them, I doubt if they even realize that 'Visa' can be an issue for a traveler!

And even if they talk about visa, it is mostly from the perspective of western travelers. For example, in Lonely Planet Africa, the author simply mentions "Travelers from most Commonwealth countries (including Australia, Canada and the UK), most Western European countries, Japan and the USA are issued with a free, 90-day visitors permit on arrival. New Zealand citizens require visas." for South Africa, as if it is only nationals from these countries, who are allowed to travel!

So over last  couple of years, I have been writing mostly about visa application guidelines as well as my experiences and the Guy With The Green Passport facebook page has received a big following from the travel communities in Bangladesh and other countries who face similar problems.

This travel site is a continuation of the same initiative and I hope the followers of Guy With The Green Passport will benefit from this site as they will be able to access contents in a much more organized manner. Also the forum will enable them to share their views or participate in discussion with other like-minded people from around the world.

Best,

Susmit
