Myanmar Visa from Dhaka, Bangladesh: A Comprehensive Guide

After getting my E-Visa rejected for Myanmar, I immediately decided to apply for the usual sticker visa at the Myanmar Embassy in Dhaka and received the visa the next day.

Why I applied for Sticker Visa after Getting my E-Visa Rejected:

I had a feeling that the previous E-Visa rejection was mostly because they did not have access to my travel history and maybe they are not issuing visas to BD nationals without previous travel history considering the political tension.

Where to Apply:

Myanmar Embassy in Dhaka does not accept visa application directly from the applicants but through an authorized agency or so-called Myanmar Visa Collection Center (MVCC). The DNATA-MVCC is operated by DNATA BD (actually a small agency which is apparently a concern of DNATA group)

Visa Fee: Tk. 3400 (Visa Fee) + Tk. 800 (Service Charge) * visa fee is refundable if the visa application is rejected but not service charge.

P.S. Service change was Tk. 1200 when I applied for my visa, but as per a recent update, it is now reduced to Tk. 800. (Thanks to Shahriar Rafsan for the update)

Documents Required:

1. One copy of entry tourist application form duly filled and signed by the applicant (form available at MVCC or can be downloaded from Myanmar Embassy Website).

2. Name card/ Business card or photocopy of the page of passport with photo shown.

3. National ID/ID cards photocopy of student or service holder.

4. Two recent photos of 1.5 X 2 inch with a white colour background.

5. Passport validity at least six months.

6. Bank statement for the last three months for Bangladeshi or working expatriates only. Other foreigners may give a photocopy of their Credit Cards.

7. Recommendation/Visa Application & NOC letter from the respective organization ( Work Permit for working foreigners).

8. Proof of business registration, trade license translated and notarized in original or for a foreign company, permission from BOI for the liaison office.

9. Air ticket booking confirmation and hotel booking confirmation.

Recommendation:

Do not apply for E-Visa for Myanmar in case you decide to visit Myanmar. Just apply with the embassy and there is a better chance you will get the visa.

Travel is all about learning about new cultures, making friends, respecting cultures which are different from your own, breaking the boundaries and understanding that the general people of a country is not the same as the government! Whether you will travel to Myanmar in the near future or not is completely a decision of your own! Put please do not assert your whimsical thoughts here. You are most welcome to differ from my opinion and you are free to criticize!
