Malaysia has opened E-Visa facility for Bangladesh nationals since 15th August 2016, which was supposed to mean that Bangladeshis will have to go through less hassle than before to apply for Malaysian Visa.
Although E-Visa requires almost all documents similar to that of a sticker visa from the embassy, yet it is definitely faster when it comes to processing time, cheaper and way more convenient.
Things to Note: In the beginning, all applicants were allowed to apply for Malaysian E-Visa, however that is no longer true for Bangladesh nationals. Only those holding previous Malaysian Visa can now apply for E-Visa, i.e. if someone has visited Malaysia with a sticker visa, he is now eligible to apply for E-Visa.
Officially there are some more restrictions as well for Bangladesh nationals, such as, this e-visa is applicable OFFICIALLY for route such as Dhaka-Kuala Lumpur-Dhaka ONLY, however, many travellers have reported travelling to a third country without any trouble.
However, it is important to remember that even though after receiving visa, it is okay to travel to/from a third country, but, if you provide an Air Ticket or Flight Reservation involving a third country along with Malaysia while applying for E-Visa, your E-Visa application will be outrightly rejected. So, always provide Bangladesh-Malaysia-Bangladesh (e.g. Dhaka-Kuala Lumpur-Dhaka/ Dhaka-Langkawi-Dhaka/ Dhaka-Kuala Lumpur-Penang-Dhaka type Flight Reservation while applying.
Documents Required: (Scan Copies)
1. Bank Statement & Solvency Letter 2. Passport Information Page 3. Previous Malaysian Sticker Visa and entry & exit stamps 4. Photo (35mmX50mm) 5. Confirmed Return Air Ticket 6. Hotel Booking
Visa Fee: Official E-Visa Fee is Tk 3400 (Approximate). You can pay with your Bangladeshi Credit or Debit Card Online.
Usually, travel agencies in Bangladesh process Malaysian E-Visa for around Tk. 4000, but the advantage of using an agency is that they will provide all other documents such as flight reservation copy and hotel booking copy wherever necessary.
I applied for my first Malaysian E-Visa back in May 2018 and received it within 48 hours. I have been using their E-Visa facilities since then. For more information please visit Malaysian E-Visa original site: https://www.windowmalaysia.my/evisa/evisa.jsp. You can ask them any question you have regarding the e-visa, they reply promptly.
Cheers & Happy Travels!
