Most people visit Guangzhou for business, but the city has a lot to offer even for tourist. The 3rd largest city in China has a number of attractions ranging from historical sites to modern skyscrapers. However, the best thing for me in Guangzhou has always been the awesome Cantonese Cuisine.
The first time, I visited Guangzhou was back in 2011, during my second year in college. Air Asia had just started their Bangkok to Guangzhou route and offered a crazy deal. Bought a return ticket to Guangzhou from Bangkok for as little as INR 2900, which was around USD 70 back then. The next time I visited the city was in 2018 with my friend Semanta. Both times, I was there for stayed for around 5 days.

For tourists, the best place to stay is Zhongshan Road. Which goes across downtown Guangzhou. Almost all the tourist attractions of the city are easily accessible from here. The area also has numerous eateries serving all sorts of food.
The main attractions of the city include the famous Canton Tower, Chen Clan Academy, Sun-Yat Sen Memorial Hall, Shamian Island, Xiguan Residence along with a number of religious sites, parks, high-end shopping malls, etc. The Pearl Night Cruise is a must-do too.
Guangzhou is very well connected with most countries including Bangladesh. Perhaps it is one of the 2 Chinese cities to which one can fly directly from Dhaka. Being the main hub for China Southern Airlines, which is currently the largest Airlines in China & in Asia in term of fleet size as well as passengers served, it is fairly easy to visit this city, even if it is for a short time during transit.
China Southern flies from Dhaka to Guangzhou and from there it flies to over 100 international and almost all Chinese cities. Nowadays, it is also the airline which often offers the cheapest airfare to the USA, Canada, Australia and many more from Dhaka. So, if anyone is interested to visit Guangzhou, he can easily visit the city taking a few days stop-over on his way to another destination.
Cheers & Happy Travels!
