Australia Visa from Dhaka, Bangladesh: A Comprehensive Guide!

Updated: Jun 27, 2020

First thing first, you need to know Australia no longer issues sticker visa and in most cases, you will not be even stamped in or out of Australia when you travel. Immigration Australia has decided to go paperless both with respect to visa as well as give up Tradition Passport stamping procedure. You can check the status of already issued visa on their mobile application called “VEVO”( Visa Entitlement Verification Online).

Application Process: I applied online through immi account. One can submit paper application through VFS Australia too.

Processing Fee: AUD 140 (Application Fee+ AUD 1.5 as convenience fee or something) which I paid online. Plus Bometric Fee at the VFS (I walked in as I was already late applying for the visa and had to submit my passport to another embassy for visa, so paid almost Tk. 5000 including walk-in fee, usual fee for biometric submission is around Tk.2700 if I remember correctly)

Processing Time: Applied on 21st March, but was accepted for "Further Assessment" only on 22nd March, 2018. So basically 15 days end to end for mine. The VFS Officials said the usual processing from Bangladesh takes over a month minimum.

Documents: There is a comprehensive list of Documents requirement on the VFS website. Refer to that. I did submit confirmed Air Tickets as I had already purchased the ticket for my 2 months trip to 7 countries including Australia long back. But the immigration department does not recommend it.

Type of Visa Applied For: I applied for Single Entry Visa for stay of less than 3 months. I will be staying from 13th to 25th April, 2018. That is Visitor Visa Sub Class 600. Type of Visa Issued: 1 Year Multiple Entry valid for maximum 90 days stay from each date of entry.

Invitation: No, I have my aunt and her family who are Australian Citizen, but I did not provide an invitation from them. I had to mention it in the details of relatives form though.

Advise: Don't waste your time and money with agencies. I am an agency owner myself, but for visas like US, Canada, Australian, New Zealand, Schengen, UK, etc. no agency can really provide any support other than getting the documents supplied by yourself and putting them in order, which all of us can do by going through the requirements properly. If you need support, pages like this or many websites can be of help.

Hope this helps any prospective applicant. :)

Cheers & Happy Travels :)
